2.) PhD Research Fellow in impacts of digitalization on society

Being a global shift, the key research challenge is to understand the global governing of digital transformation. Global public governance in this context is ultimately about ‘governance of the digital’ – comprising efforts of transnational regulations of the technology itself. One key institution thereof is the European Union. The research ambition is to disclose the degree to which, how, and under what conditions digital transformation is the result of national and/or global power structures. The research project should map and examine the multi-centric institutional terrain that governs digital transformation. The project should offer a comprehensive chart of the EU’s digitalization policy and governance architecture. One additional task should be to assess the content and effects of an emergent EU ‘Digital Single Market’ on national digitalisation governance. Therefore, the Department of Political Science and Management invites research proposals that focus on the different impacts of digitalization as indicated above. Applicants are invited to suggest research proposals that have a focus on these topics and beyond.
