Igor Studennikov was born in Izmail, in the Danube Delta. Currently lives in Odessa, Ukraine, working as a researcher and project manager. Current position is executive director of the Centre for Regional Studies, an independent non-governmental and non-profit organisation has been working for more than 12 years in the field of regional development.
Education: Igor Studennikov graduated from the History Faculty of the Odessa State I. Mechnikov University and finished post graduate studies at the same university. To prepare his graduate paper visited the Goucher College taking some courses there and at the Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, USA.
Research interests: theoretical aspects of regional studies, regional policy, trans-frontier cooperation in Europe, Integrated Coastal Zone Management.
Though having a positive experience in working for a public institution – the National Institute for Strategic Studies – Igor prefers to act as an independent researcher closely cooperating with this institute and several academic institutions and universities in Ukraine and abroad. The position with the Centre for Regional Studies also gives him the opportunity to conduct his theoretical studies and applied research.
Author of more than 20 publications (academic papers, articles and books) in these fields done individually and in cooperation with other authors.
Project management experience: Igor Studennikov has been working for more than 15 years as a project manager contributing in the sustainable of the Danube area and the Azov-Black Sea coast and being directly involved in management of several EU, UK Government, Region of Veneto and Flemish Government funded projects.
In 2007 was awarded with the Sign of Honour of Odessa Regional Council for his personal contribution to the Odessa Region’s development.
