Studennikov, Igor

Igor Studennikov is Executive Director of the Centre for Regional Studies based in Odessa, Ukraine. As a researcher Igor deals with theoretical aspects of regional studies, regional development and regional policy, cross-border cooperation in Europe. As a project manager Igor has been closely involved in various activities related to promoting cross-border cooperation and sustainable regional development in the Danube Region, focusing on the Lower Danube area.  Currently, Igor is manager for an EU-funded project “Strengthening Civil Society Involvement in Assisting the Government with the Implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region” that aims to strengthen the Ukrainian civil society involvement in the implementation of the EU Danube Strategy (EUSDR), and to promote dialogue between CSOs and the Ukrainian authorities responsible for the coordination of Ukraine’s involvement in the EUSDR implementation.  Igor is a member of the Executive Committee of the Danube Civil Society Forum. He is also a member of the Working Group 2 “Civil Society Platform” of the EUSDR Priority Area 10. He makes many efforts to make Ukraine an active player in the Danube Strategy process, strongly believing that the EUSDR may serve as a tool for Ukraine’s closer integration with the EU and the countries of the Danube River basin.
