Before retiring and becoming an independent expert in 2018, Daniela Urschitz worked for Priority Area 10 of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region as Horizontal Action Coordinator for Participation and Capapacity Building and as Coordinator of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in Vienna from 2012-2018.

After leading the Department of Women’s Affairs of the City of Vienna from 1999 to 2007, she was head of the city’s EU Coordination Department in the Vienna Administration Executive Group until 2012.

Before joining the administration of the City of Vienna in 1999, she worked at the Austrian Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs from 1981 -1999 in the Department for International Affairs and Research, as Head of the Subdivision for Women and Labour Market (until 1992) and in the Ministers Office as Deputy Head of the Department for EU Integration (until 1999) and Head of the subdivision for “ Transnational EU-Programmes and Projects”.

From 1975-1979 she studied at the Sorbonne University, Paris I and at the Haute Ecole des Sciences Politiques and worked and studied in Vienna and Bulgaria (1978-1981
