Slavica Jovanovic Kubat is an activist of the ecological grass root movement ORSP - Odbranimo reke Stare planine (Let’s Defend the Rivers of the Old Mountain), which recently gained broader public attention due to its initiative aimed at preventing the construction of mini hydropower plants on Serbian rivers.
She works as a licensed tour guide and intercultural consultant for Serbia and the Balkans and micro-blogs on social networks. Previously, she worked in project management in various industries (from NGOs such as European Movement in Serbia, to US Embassy and multinational companies in construction and IT sector), where she was in charge of project coordination and contract management, communication, event management, HR and trainings etc. She also got experience in awareness raising campaigns and mobilizing of civil society.
She studied General Linguistics at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade and German Language and Culture as a DAAD scholar in Heidelberg, Germany. She also holds an MA. degree in Languages, Literature and Culture. Currently she pursues a MSc. degree in Business Intelligence at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences in Belgrade.
